Mood: GlaDOS - Free Portal downloaded 1.5 million times

BREAKING - People like free things.

And while we also had an in-depth exposé on the sky's particular shade of blue ready to go, we figure you probably need some time to catch your breath after all this profound wisdom. So, videogame news!

After going free last week, Portal's been downloaded 1.5 million times. The most likely reason? Mac users, who were - of course - hoping to flex their newfound gaming muscles. Unfortunately, Valve didn't actually provide any hard numbers on the distribution of downloads between Mac and PC users, so we'll just have to speculate for now.

The independent powerhouse did fire up its abacus for a couple of other tidbits, though. For one, two thirds of Steam's Mac population are laptop users. And second, 11 percent of all Steam purchases during the first week of the Mac client's availability were on Mac.
