SCEE has told VG247 the Gran Turismo 5 delay announced this morning is “only applicable for the Japanese market.”
The company added that the Polyphony racer’s EU date will appear in its own good time.
A SCEE rep told us: ”This information on the GT release is only applicable for the Japanese market. SCEE will announce the launch date for this game in the PAL territories in due course.”
The game was given a March release back at Tokyo Game Show last year. After today, it’s TBA.

Of course the delay is only for the Japanese market, they never announced a date for the EU / US so it’s impossible to delay it. Semantics… but true.

Tbh it was abit of fail to have GOW3 and GT5 coming in the same week in japan lol. GT5 would sell more then gow3, and thats hardly clever selling.
Maybe they have the western release ready and want to launch it all togther in april. Sony have nothing releaseing then.

GoW3 is a non event in Japan anyway. God of War 2 sold 17k over there on release. To put that in perspective, that’s less than Katamari sold on the 360 a week earlier.

Doesnt matter if its not a main event or not, You dont release 2 of your own IP’s on the same day. Thats insane and cuts down the possibitly of both being brought.

If I’m honest, they could release GT5 next year and I still wouldn’t be sure I’d have any significant amount of time to dedicate to it.
