Planetside Next is only internal name for next Planetside

The “REALLY MASSIVE” [sic] Planetside follow-up SOE’s John Smedley was rabbiting on about this morning probably isn’t called Planetside Next, according to Massively.

“We spoke to SOE and confirmed that this is an internal working title, not the official one, so we may be hearing about a new title in the future,” said the site.

Smedley said today that the sequel to SOE’s MMO shooter is to feature bonkers-huge battles and “much better organization”.

Praise be to God. No date. Thanks, The_Villa.

What the fuck is that game?

I heard it’s like MMO FPS, so please do not bother with a PS3 version, we already have shitty ass MAG.

I played it once on PC, its pretty much big ass FPS (and vehicles which is actually pretty cool) battles but with the RPG element being more important.
In MAG a lowly first rank guy could actually beat a high level commander but in Planetside such a feat is pretty much impossible just like its impossible for a level 1 character to beat a level 60 one in WoW.

    MAG is good!

Anyways.. this game looks like it could turn out to be something cool. I’m hoping so.

Don’t compare MAG to PS, they are in completely different leagues. PS had, approx, 200 players per side per isle, not like MAG’s 255 total players, and a completley persistant world, not sure about MAG on that one though.

Also, a rank 1 grunt could kill a rank 20 grunt, it just depended on how fast you were moving and what weapon. Admittedly, it was a lot harder, but it was possible. besides, you did basic training which got you to rank 4 or 5, then you had plenty of certs to spend on weapons and armour.

As a game though, if sony hadn’t introduced mechs, plenty of the old players would probably still be playing today.

PS rocked back in the day, that no one has attempted to surpass it speaks volumes about the total retards running games companies.
