Console Crysis was “literally inevitable”

Console versions of Crysis were “literally inevitable,” Crytek boss Cevat Yerli’s told Gamespot. Not even figuratively.
“It’s a question of more than economics,” Yerli said when asked about the reasoning behind Crysis 2′s multi-plat strategy.
“At the end of the day we’re paying salaries and we all have to live, but that’s one side of this job. But most importantly and a bit more tangible to us are the families, the nephews, and sons who ask, ‘Why aren’t you going to consoles?’ It’s kind of like bothering people. We’ve been asked a lot in the last three or four years now, ‘When consoles? When consoles? When consoles?’
“It was literally inevitable that we would bring it.”
There’s literally more through the link.

Nephews and sons eh?
So Crysis is a kids game, I see.
Won’t bother buying it now…

As long as it’s not dumbed down in anyway for consoles I’m happy.

Gotta dumb it down for the sons and nephews, innit.

Literally! It’s become an annoying trend that people have started adding ‘literally’ to their statements willy nilly, as if it somehow gives what they are saying more gravitas.

You should watch Jamie Redknapp’s football punditry then.
He’s a “literally” addict!
“I mean, Wayne Rooney, he’s literally on fire…”

I don’t see how they could possibly ‘dumb down’ an FPS where you run around hurling men into buildings and driving tanks. Crysis isn’t exactly Deus Ex, is it?

They could dumb down graphics, menu interface, the controls for pc could be borked like some multiplat games are… just to name some.

Dumb down the graphics?
Like how the game looks on most PC’s that aren’t powerful enough to run it on max settings…? 800×600@18-24fps?? LOL.
Menu interface?
Eh?
Controls?
If you call taking the key for lie prone (use little finger) and the key for crouch (use index finger) and the key for stand (use thumb) and putting them into one single thumbstick click ‘dumbing down’, then yeah…

Then what you mean is ‘simplify’ the controls and ‘reduce’ the graphics quality. I was taking ‘dumb down’ literally, as it was written.

they were saying they going to max out alll systems. The console verion will not be as good as pc no matter what.

It certainly won’t look as good, but I don’t see how the gameplay or content could suffer.

Fear was made for consoles? Fraid not, the console ports only came long after the original PC version.

because the game has to be coded to run on the hardware available on a console its dumb down?
Oh yeah I forgot keyboard and mouse is the leet way of playing FPS’s it obviously takes far more skill to move a cursor with a mouse to shoot than it does with a pad.
Only smart gamers know how to use a keyboard and mouse……………

Ok let me say it this way… what I meant was they might do a half assed job on the pc version since they’ll be doing the console versions aswell. ok?

Oh and bring it they shall…..i’ve played through Crysis series on pc (8800GTX) and it’s a damn impressive game despite known functionality issues with certain specs). Looking forward to a “standardized” PS3/X360 version hopefully pushing both systems to their near limits and completely blowing the entire industry away at the same time..;)

bdh No one cares not everyone has the time or can be bothered in investing in getting a good pc to play games on it. To most people console is easier to setup and get going.
So I really don’t get why your so pissed off that people prefer consoles.
Anytime I see your posts trying to convince people that console isn’t as good as PC I sigh. Mostly because normal people don’t care.

Crysis/Warhead on PC already had support for an Xbox360 controller, don’t see too many things they’d need to change for a multiplatform sequel.
As for the performance statements; Crysis was only a beast for people who took the marketing slogans “Maximum this, Maximum that” a bit too euh… ‘literally’ when they dived into the graphical options. Seriously, it outclasses most other recent shooters on Medium already and that played just fine with everyone who had a gamer’s PC. I only had trouble on an ace PC (with everything maxed out in 1280×1024) in the Carrier level and with the end boss, so that’s the last 20 minutes of the game (never completed it because of the hickups, a specific Ati card problem apparently).
Other than that it was an utterly brilliant game, f*ck Deus Ex/SS2/BS to be honest, Crysis did the “solve problems the way you want” in a much better way, at least in terms of pure action. It’s almost exactly like playing Predator in the jungle, how neat is that?
The question here shouldn’t be how much console-only (*shivers*) peeps should get excited about Crysis 2 but if they’ll ever see the original games… same question counts for STALKER and its offspring (nothing compares to those games). If you only play console games you’ve been missing out on ‘literally’ unforgettable titles.
