Factor 5′s US studio closes doors

San Rafael-based Factor 5, best known for Lair and the Star Wars: Rogue Squadron series, has shut its doors, according to a post on the official website from CEO Achim Moller.
Brash Entertainment’s bankruptcy is being blamed partially for the closure, as the company had a multi-game deal with Factor 5. Because of this, “the continuation of operations have turned out too great to overcome in the current economic climate,” said Moller.
Factor 5 GmbH, based out of Cologne, is not affected by the closure, and the studio promises to reveal it’s upcoming projects over the next few months.
More over on the official site.

I don’t know how I feel about this. I never rated their games, but I’m sad for the people that have lost their jobs.

I can’t help but wonder what type of impact second hand game sales have on studios that close up. And we have seen a rash of them over the past year or so.

I’m sad that they lost their jobs, but the upper management only has themselves to blame.
The ran this company into the ground.

With Psychotext. I never even tried Lair…
I mean I don’t know what was wrong with Lair, but from the reviews it got, I am guessing the studio wasn’t completely streamlined anyway.

@Pacer
You can ascertain how well a game sold by how many pre-owned games turn up and how quickly.
Generally, the better it sells, the more games turn up PO. The worse it is, the longer it stays on the shelf and/ or quicker it drops in price.
