NFS Undercover: The first 10 minutes

needforspeedundercover2.jpg

Below the line’s a video of the first ten minutes of Need For Speed Undercover. It looks as though it’s been grabbed from an older version, as there are still placeholder bits in it, but you can see what’s going on.

We’ll get a capture card soon. We’ve got retail code here. It’s out next Friday.

It would be totally unfair to pre-judge the game on that, but coupled with Edge’s rather damning 3/10 (although quite what Edge scores mean after this months bizzaro issue is another question) it looks as though it’s been rushed to shelves.

The NFS franchise has been at the point of diminishing returns for a while now, and I was hoping that this would put everything back on track in a similar way that Hot Pursuit 2 did. I’ll keep an eye on other reviews, but it’s looking like it might be best to just put the franchise to bed for a while.

Well, that cutscene in the office was probably the best bit about that video. Animation and voice work were astoundingly high for a videogame. Just a shame the most NFS games aren’t fun to drive in and this looks the same.

Yeah, i had high hopes too … but it looks like this franchise will not resurrect soon, if ever.

I’d say this would be a good outside bet at being Christmas number 1.
