State of Decay 2 Weapons Guide

No matter where you are, what state your character is in, or what items you currently have on you, your character in State of Decay 2 will always have a small knife on them. They can use the knife to deliver small melee attacks to any zombie, but you’re always going to want to make sure you’re equipped with a bigger melee weapon and a firearm at all times.

You can scavenge melee weapons, including bats, pipes, swords, and daggers from basically any lootable container in State of Decay 2. However when you’re laying into a zombie with said melee weapon, the condition of said weapon will always be deteriorating with each hit, meaning it’s always coming closer to breaking with each hit.

We’ll detail how to repair your melee weapons in State of Decay 2 just below, but for now, you need to know that when your melee weapon is significantly damaged, it’ll appear in yellow near the bottom right corner of the screen. This signifies that the weapon you’re using will break soon, so you can either switch to another weapon in your backpack, or keep on swinging away until the weapon is fully broken. Even when it’s broken, it’s still not beyond repair.

How to Repair Weapons in State of Decay 2

If you’re weapon breaks and you can’t use it in combat any more, or if your weapon is even slightly damaged, you’re probably want to get it repaired while you’re at your main home base camp, before you venture out into the wilderness again.

To repair weapons of any form in State of Decay 2, you’re going to need to build a Workshop in your main base camp. Simply approach a vacant plot of land, and provided you have three Building Materials and one person available to build, you can begin construction immediately.

Once completed, you can use the Workshop to repair any weapons that have been at all damaged in any way, from merely using it once to rendering the weapon fully broken. However the amount of salvage parts you’ll need to fully repair weapons won’t be constant, and will vary by how damaged the weapon is. You might have to save up salvage parts if you’re going to nurse a weapon back to health from being fully broken.
