State of Decay 2 hits 3 million players, Independence Pack now available

The first post-launch content pack for State of Decay 2 is now available.

State of Decay 2 players can pick up the first content pack for the game from today.

Called the Independence Pack, both Xbox One and Windows 10 users will find various vehicles, fireworks, weapons and gear inside.

Those who don't own the Ultimate Edition of the game will need to fork over $4.99 for the Independence Pack.

Here's what's included in the Independence Pack:

  • Vehicles: Pyrohawk, Burninator and Meatwagon.
  • Melee Weapons: The Freedom Ringer, Grillmeister and BBQ Fork.
  • Ranged Weapons: Pyro Launcher and Starshank Launcher.
  • Single-use Fireworks: The Block Rocker, Reign o’ Fire, Bouncing Boris and XL Firework Shell.

Players can also use the Fireworks Crafting Station facility mod to craft additional fireworks or ammunition for the fireworks launchers. A wandering trader will also be hosting a fireworks sale.

Players can expect another bit of DLC called the Daybreak Pack this September. It will feature a new mode where players take on the role of a Red Talon soldier. They will be working to complete challenging objectives while protecting their position against waves of zombies and freaks.

Alongside the Independence Pack's release comes update 2.0, which features 20 free new missions, nearly 10 new weapons, a “Rare Books” trader for new skills, and improved gameplay.

This update is available free to all players, and patch notes are through the official website.

State of Decay 2 has attracted 3 million players since it released on May 22, and a third installment is on slate.
