Blizzard DOTA finally dropping "near the launch" of Heart of the Swarm

Remember Blizzard DOTA? It was announced long ago, in the far reaches of last year, during BlizzCon. And then...? Silence. Other StarCraft II mods came and went, but DOTA took its bounty of beloved Blizzard heroes and faded into obscurity. Well, until now, obviously. Otherwise, this would be a really disappointing article.

Eurogamer brings word that the ambitious mod is now slated to hit "near the launch" of StarCraft II's first expansion, Heart of the Swarm. So said senior game designer Jonny Ebbert during a Gamescom panel.

Of course, Heart of the Swarm - like all Blizzard projects until five minutes after they've come out - doesn't have a release date, so we may have a bit of a wait ahead of us. Ebbert added, however, that your details are in another convention - BlizzCon, more specifically.

Until then, though, we're going to make our own DOTA starring all the game developers - Valve, Blizzard, Riot, everyone else ever - who are currently making their own DOTAs. And then the world will end.
