Assassin's Creed Origins Septimius the Jackal Boss Fight Guide

There's absolutely nothing you need to do to reach this fight, as all you have to do is complete the previous ship section with Aya, let the ensuing cutscene play out, and you'll find yourself once again in the shoes of Aya, facing off again Septimius the Jackal. He might be lower in the pecking order in the Order of Ancients than the Flavius, the previous boss, but Septimius is by no means a pushover in this boss encounter.

Don't forget to upgrade your gear! It'll make boss fights like this a whole lot easier.

At the start of the battle, you'll notice that Septimius has a rather unique weapon. Like Flavius before him, this weapon is embued with some form of ancient technology, and whenever Aya is hit by the weapon through any attack, it'll freeze her in place, allowing Septimius to close in and deal out massive amounts of damage, no matter what difficulty setting you're playing on.

Whenever Flavius is swinging both his maces around over his head and advancing towards Aya, there's no point even attempting to perform a melee attack on him, so you should instead back off and aim for some quick headshots with Aya's bow. Once you've eventually caused enough damage, Septimius will snap out of the deadly attack pattern, and you can close in for a few quick melee hits on the boss.

As for the rest of the battle, you'll want to back off and learn each of Septimius' attacks. There aren't a great deal to contend with, as he's a fairly heavy hitter that generally focuses on one large attack, instead of a series of attacks. Use this to your advantage, and close the gap between Aya and Septimius once you've dodged any of his attacks to lay into him with a few quick melee hits. Bear in mind that any melee hits on Septimius will temporarily stagger the boss, meaning that he can't counterattack Aya while she's laying into him with her dual swords.

You'll undoubtedly want to take advantage of your powerful combat meter attack in the Septimius boss fight, the second that it's completely filled the guage. This attack is always guaranteed to take off at least one bar of Septimius' health bar, and you can tap the right shoulder button straight after to lay into him with several other quick attacks. Keep in mind that attacking Septimius with your bow can build the combat guage, so don't be afraid to back off and lay into him from a safe distance.
