Assassin's Creed Origins Flavius the Lion Boss Fight Guide

In one of the final story missions of Assassin's Creed Origins, Bayek is tasked with infiltrating a heavily guarded Roman temple in the north west of the map, and assassinating Flavius the Lion, who is effectively the leader of the Order of Ancients in Egypt. To reach Flavius, you'll have to sneak your way into the massive Roman complex, which can actually be done fairly easily by approaching the front wall, and scaling it.

Don't forget to upgrade your gear! It'll make boss fights like this a whole lot easier.

There are no archers keeping watch on the walls of the fort, so head towards the marker for Flavius, but go to either side of the building in the middle, as you won't be able to enter through the front door. Take out either one of the shield-bearing guards to the side of the building, and then scale the inner wall, hopping through any of the windows to commence the actual boss fight with Flavius.

In this boss fight, Flavius' main weapon is a fairly standard sword, but it's the powerful ancient artefact that you've got to watch out for. You'll want to keep your shield up against Flavius at all times, and ideally try to parry him if you've unlocked the corresponding ability on the skill tree. If you haven't, then your best bet is to dodge the sword attacks from Flavius, and instantly hone in on him for a few quick attacks.

Flavius has a nasty ability that allows him to disappear and reappear anywhere in the vacinity whenever he wishes. He'll always use this ability whenever he lands an attack on you, so if he manages to hit you, don't try to counterattack, and instead back off and wait for him to reappear. Flavius will only use his ancient orb to attack you whenever he reappears, and the sign that he's about to use the orb on you is if he extends an arm forwards, and a faint line extends from him across the battlefield.

When he's about to pull off an attack using the orb, you'll want to immediately dodge out of the way of the line. If he catches you with the attack, Bayek will be frozen in place, until whenever Flavius lays into him with a few sword attacks. This line attack that Flavius pulls off with the orb will change in the final phase of the battle. It instead turns into an area of effect attack that can be seen by a faint circle on the battlefield, but although it looks different, it still has the same effect on Bayek.

At two points in the battle with Flavius, once you've inflicted enough damage on him, he'll disappear and send what look to be phantoms after you, in the form of the Order of Ancients. These phantoms have the same disappearing ability as Flavius, in that if they land a hit on you, they'll immediately disappear and reappear elsewhere in the temple. We've found that using a rapid firing bow usually works well in this situation, as all it takes is a single hit to kill one of the phantoms.
