Neo: The World Ends With You releasing July 27 on PS4 & Switch, with a PC version coming to Epic in the summer

A release date, new platform, and more for this long-awaited sequel to a cult classic.

Square Enix has revealed that Neo: The World Ends With You will release on July 27. That release date is for the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 versions of the game, while a PC release will follow at some point during summer 2021 - but that PC release will follow in the footsteps of the Kingdom Hearts series as an Epic Games Store exclusive.

You can see the new trailer in the embed above - it features introductions to many of the core cast of this sequel, plus an opportunity to hear their voice actors. There is also, of course, a good look at gameplay. Meanwhile, the PlayStation Blog has a new blog post from Square Enix with in-depth descriptions and bios of the cast of the game.

In addition, the blog reveals that those who pre-order the title through the PlayStation Store will get some bonus equipment to give you a bit of a head-start in battles.

If you don't know this series too well, The World Ends With You is a unique RPG with action-packed battles and a particularly important, game-defining soundtrack. It was a Nintendo DS classic that was later ported to mobile platforms and Switch - and now, fourteen years on, it's getting a full-blown sequel - which has fans very excited. An anime based on the original game is also set to premiere this month.
