Stardew Valley developer Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone has announced he’s putting together a team to help him develop future content for the game.
Eric Barone said today he’s putting his next game on the back-burner on order to continue making content for Stardew Valley.
A new free content update is currently in the works, and a team will be formed to help work on future content for the title (thanks, GI.biz).
“The update I’m working on right now (1.4) will be another solo update,” said Barone, “but after that I hope to have a team in place that I can work closely with on future content.
“My hope is that the new team will help take some of the workload off me, so I have enough breathing room to divide my time between my new game and Stardew Valley. I still plan on having a very active role in the future of Stardew Valley, and the originator of all major Stardew Valley decisions and content.
“Once the team is in place, I’ll divide my time between Stardew Valley and my new game.”
According to ConcernedApe, the new game on hold for the time being is set in the same universe as Stardew Valley.
“I’ve been deliberately secretive about it because I want to be able to work on it without any pressure for the time being,” he continued “I also want to make sure the concept is fully realized before revealing anything, because once it’s out there, I’m going to have to fully commit to it.”
Barone recently announced he would be self-publishing Stardew Valley and future titles. Chucklefish will remain the publisher of the game on Switch and mobile.
Speaking of one of the best Switch games out there, the multiplayer update for Stardew Valley is now available on the system.
