Star Citizen’s face tracking webcam tech is the stuff of nightmares

During the most recent CitizenCon, Cloud Imperium Games announced that FOIP face tracking was coming to Star Citizen.

Now the update has landed, people are hooking up their webcams and playing the game’s alpha to test it out. The results will haunt your dreams for all eternity.

The tech is obviously pretty impressive, but it opens up your in-game avatar to making some of the most demented faces you’ve ever seen. Here’s a video, from YouTuber Robbaz, where he tests the tech out.

What has been seen cannot be unseen.

If you want to see more of how Star Citizen is shaping up, there’s an hour of footage set in a new planet, Hurston, at that link.

There’s also an all-new trailer from Squadron 42, the game’s star-studded single-player spinoff.
