Halo Infinite may launch with a single-player campaign only, with multiplayer to follow in 2020.
The newest Halo title was announced during the Xbox E3 2018 briefing after being rumoured last week by Thurrott.com executive editor Brad Sams. He’s at it again, this time suggesting that Halo Infinite will launch with a single-player campaign only in 2019, with the multiplayer following in 2020.
Sams says that the reason for the split is the new SlipSpace engine that the game uses.
“I was a little skeptical on this information until I saw that they were building an entirely new engine for the platform,” he writes. “Knowing this, the staggered release makes a lot more sense as it’s easier to build a single player game than a multiplayer shooter; thus, the single player arrives, they look for potential issues, then release the multiplayer portion of the game.”
Sams was practically on the money with the title of the new Halo game, but as is always the case with rumours, it’s best to take it for what it is and not put too much stock into it just yet.
Halo Infinite will apparently focus more on Master Chief’s story, after fans were somewhat disappointed with Halo 5.
