Battlefield 4: DICE LA doesn't plan to release new content to the CTE

DICE LA has said it doesn't have any plans to add more Battlefield 4 content to the Community Test Environment (CTE).

Speaking on Twitter, DICE LA producer David Sirland said all the prototype content, including maps, are still available on the CTE and there are no plans to shut the servers down at the moment.

A new Battlefield is in the works, so it makes sense the team would be focusing more energy on the upcoming title.

EA has the shooter on slate for the 2016 holiday season, and and back in 2014, EA CFO Blake Jorgensen said the shooter would be “a return to a Battlefield military-style game.”

In February of this year, a Swiss retailer had Battlefield 5 listed as a “multiplayer tactical shooter” set during World War 1 with an October 26 placeholder.

Battlefield 4 was revealed at GDC 2013, but we haven't heard any rumblings on a similar reveal for GDC 2016 which takes place next week.

EA is hosting two offsite events during E3 2016 in June instead of hosting its usual press conference on the Monday before E3.

The company will instead host public gameplay events in London and Los Angles two days before the annual trade show kicks off. A press conference will be held on Sunday, June 12 and playable games will be on-hand at its free EA Play events June 12-14.

In LA the event takes place at Club Nokia, and in London at The Mermaid. Play LA will last for three days, and the London event, Play London will take place on June 12 only.

Unless the firm plans to announce the game ahead of E3, EA Play would be the perfect time to announce Battlefield 5 to fans.
