Star Citizen website updated, pre-order offers running out

Cloud Imperium Games celebrated the launch of its new Star Citizen website this weekend with a live stream showing off the incredibly intricate (and apparently very expensive) ship models. Gaze in wonder and whack your pre-order money down fast before the best offers close.

As previously reported, the core Roberts Space Industries website has been overhauled. As part of this process, all backers, including those who used Kickstarter, will be transitioned to a single account system.

Because this will probably take a few days, Roberts Space Industries is hosting a “grace period” until July 6, during which everybody can get in on some sweet backer and pre-order offers before they’re gone forever – like lifetime insurance on ships. So if you’re keen to buy in, you may want to do it now.

If you missed the stream, check out the capture below; the level of detail on the ships is actually kind of amazing. Below that you’ll find an extended cut of the lovely 300 series trailer form last week.

Star Citizen recently set a record for the greatest amount of crowdfunding raised by a game project and has since pulled in even more cash; at time of writing, it had a total of $11,889,184 pledged by over 200,000 backers.
