Rift “free weekend” approaches

This weekend Trion Worlds has made Rift free play to all, from the 14th – 16th. Meaning new players can get a chance to see what it’s like, but more importantly, old players can be drawn back in.

While it may serve as a good introduction for new players, the move seems more targeted at those current players who have lingered at level 20 in the “lite” mode, as described by PCGamesN.

Many players have opted to stay and play in their PvE zones as opposed to forking out cash to go past level 20 and beyond the “lite” version. This weekend will allow those players and new ones to experience what it’s like after level 20, but characters will not be able to be used past this weekend in Rift lite.
