This week’s Famitsu, via Andriasang, has a few more slim details regarding a promised announcement at a Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary event. Producer Yoshinori Kitase said Square Enix will announce a new title in the Final Fantasy XIII series. The new game, if that’s what it is, has just gone into production, and is being called “Lightning Saga” until the official title is released on September 1. Good news for fans of FFXIII-2, less so for those hoping to hear something Versus XIII.

“As far as how the sisterly love is depicted, I think that you will have a better sense of it once you play the game. As far as the differences between how they express their affections for each other, in Final Fantasy XIII Serah was a Crystal and Lightning, as an older sister, was trying to save her. Whereas Serah goes out looking for Lightning this time, who has mysteriously disappeared, it seems everyone has accepted the fact that she is gone, but she is determined to find Lightning and she has set off to go look for her. Final Fantasy XIII-2 producer Yoshinori Kitase has said there’ll be a huge amount of DLC for Final Fantasy XIII-2. Speaking in the latest issue of Dengeki PlayStation, Kitase said those who’ll play the game can expect up to one or two updates per month, which will multiple items of content, from costumes to enemies and weapons. He wouldn’t say how much the DLC to be, but did say it would find a good balance between quality and price.
FFXIII-2 releases in December in Japan, with it launching in the US on January 31 and February 3 in the UK for PS3 and 360. Thanks, Andriasang.

When asked by Siliconera at E3 if it would remaster Dissidia for PS3 as part of the PSP Remaster series, Final Fantasy producer Yoshinori Kitase said: “We have no actual plans. he concept of remastering PSP titles for PS3 is a new idea and initiative from Sony. We have not had enough time to think through and plan our actions.”
No Dissidia PS3 for you, then. At least, not yet anyway.
