Sega’s announced it’s to release Sonic the Hedgehog: Episode 1 and Sonic CD onto PC today. While CD was initially promised for PC, this is the first heard on Episode 1 for the platform, but comes as Episode 2 makes its bow on it later this year. Also coming to PC today is DLC for Sonic Generations, consisting of the Casino Night Pinball Stage.

With Sonic Generations’ release, the Guardian traveled to Japan to speak with the game’s director, producer and sound director regarding all the hard work which went into the game. According to the development team, rather than just create any Sonic game for the blue fella’s 20th Anniversary, it wanted something which would instead be a present to those who have loved the series over the past two decades. In order to do this, it had to compress a score of history into one game, so everyone could come together and celebrate. It’s a very interesting video, and it’s posted below. Sonic Generations is out now on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, and on November 22 and 25 for 3DS in the US and Europe, respectively.

SEGA may be bringing Sonic back as his classic Sonic 1 self in unlockable form with Sonic Generations, but don’t look for it to be happening again any time soon. According to the firm’s European brand manager David Corless, “there are no plans, to be brutally honest, to bring Classic Sonic back.” Corless said the only reason he’s back for the November release, is due to it being the hedgehog’s 20th anniversary. “It was a real fitting time to do it, he’s really well loved,” he said. “Let’s see how Generations does. You can never say never in this industry, but at the moment there are no plans.”

Generations is out November 1 PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, and on November 22 and 25 for 3DS in the US and Europe, respectively. Thanks, Gematsu.

SEGA has dated the 3Ds version of Sonic Generations, which allows you to play as classic and modern Sonic. The game will land at retail for the handheld on November 22 and November 25 in North America and Europe, respectively.

Those planning on purchasing Sonic Generations for PC may wish to have a look at Steam; if you pre-purchase you’ll receive copies of Sonic 3D Blast and Sonic 3 and Knuckles to play today. If you already own one of the two freebies, you can gift it to a friend. Sonic Generations is out on November 4, and will run you $29.99 through Steam. Sega’s announced that a second Sonic Generations demo will be releasing on PlayStation Network and Xbox Live on October 19.The demo will enable players to try out some Modern Sonic gameplay, with access to the Green Hill level. The earlier demo contained some of the game’s Classic Sonic stages.

The game releases on November 4 for PS3 and Xbox 360. A PC and 3DS release will follow later in the month.

By releasing tech specifications, Sega has made official the promised PC version of Sonic Generations.

Sega’s confirmed in Japan that Sonic Generations’ Japanese release has been brought forward a week. Originally due to launch on December 8, it’ll now launch on December 1 for PS3, 360 and 3DS. Sega UK confirmed the PS3 and 360 versions would launch on November 4 here last month, but the 3DS SKU remains dateless as of now in the UK.

Sega’s announced this evening that Sonic Generations will release in the UK on November 4. The date comes part of the publisher’s latest UK release schedule today. The dates are for the PS3 and 360 versions; Sega wouldn’t give VG247 a firm date for the 3DS version other than just November.

Sega is looking at a Wii U and Vita release of Sonic Generations, as well as Yakuza 5 for the latter, according to a TSSZ report. And a new Bayonetta will be unveiled soon
