SEGA financials: Sonic Generations moves 1.6 million, Mario & Sonic 2012 1.4 million

SEGA's latest financial report shows a year-over-year decline for its games division during the first nine months of the fiscal year ending December 31.

For the period, SEGA posted revenue of ¥49 billion ($643.0 million), down 2.6% from last year's ¥50.3 billion ($660.1 million), and a loss of ¥5.5 billion ($72.2 million). During the period, the company shipped 12.6 million units worldwide, which is down 1 million year-over-year. In the US, 4.4 million titles were shipped, 1.8 million were shopped in Europe, Japan, and elsewhere.

Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games moved 2.4 million units in the US and Europe, Sonic Generations sold 1.6 million units in Japan, US and Europe, and over in Japan, Hatsune Miku Project Diva Extend moved 290,000 units.

The firm announced its mobile title Kingdom Conquest was downloaded 2 million times during December on iOS and expects the recently launched Android version to do well.

Losses were attributed to weak product demand in the US and Europe, as well as "sluggish personal consumption" from the public.

All sectors combined for SEGA Sammy, including its pachislot and pachinko divisions, contributed ¥311.7 billion ($4.1 billion) in revenue, up 0.5% year-over-year compared to ¥310.1 billion ($4.1 billion) the year prior.
