resi52b1.jpg

REHorror has translated a Resident Evil 5 preview from German magazine ‘Games Aktuel’l which states that a PC version of Resident Evil 5 will be available from this year. Q4 2009 to be precise.

The magazine then goes on to talk about the intro, the Merchant system, and a whole host of other spoilery things that you may or may not want to know about. So read about it all through the link.

The Resident Evil 5 360 demo went live about an hour ago.

We have of course contacted Capcom for comment.

Resident Evil 5 360 demo is now live

resi561b.jpg

Capcom’s impossibly good looking Resident Evil 5 demo is now available to download from Xbox Marketplace for Xbox Live Gold subscribers.

The demo will be exactly the same as the Japanese demo, released a month ago. (Apart from that it’s in English, of course).

PlayStation 3 owners will get access to the demo next week.

The full release is on March 13.

Capcom: Resident Evil 5 can still “loosely be considered a survival horror game”

resi551b.jpg

Chris Kramer, Capcom’s senior director for communications and community, has told Major Nelson that Resident Evil 5 is a continuation of the series and is no longer a traditional survival horror game.

“Resident Evil 5 can still loosely be considered a survival horror game,” he offered. However, compared with Resident Evil 4 it will be “more exciting, more action with more tension.”

“You have the ability to feel more like an action hero,” he went on. “You will have the largest Arsenal of weapons in a Resident Evil game to date.”

“The whole game is designed from ground up for co-op,” Kramer added. “There will never be a point where Sheva is knocked on the head or stolen by Gremlins.”

“It’s totally changed the Resident Evil experience and it’s as big a leap forward for the series as Resident Evil 4 was.”

The Resident Evil 5 demo should be ready to download on Xbox Live Marketplace any minute now.

New Resident Evil 5 packshot released (without 2-16 player system link)

resi5pack1b.jpg

Capcom has released an updated pack shot of its action horror sequel, Resident Evil 5.

It’s exactly the same as the old one, but this time the system link 2-16 players” has been replaced with “system link 2″ tag instead.

There was some confusion this week when D-Pad noticed the 360 box art hinted there was going to be 16 player offline multiplayer.

Capcom has since admitted that its inclusion was an error and now publish the above picture to prove it.

Resident Evil 5 will be released on Xbox 360 and PS3 on March 13.

Capcom: Our box art lies!

resi51b4.jpg

After telling videogaming247 that the box art doesn’t lie, Capcom has just got in touch to tell us that actually, yes it does.

“Turns out our pack art was wrong!” said a senior company rep to VG247 just now.

So in a nutshell: the box art showing the possibility of 2-16 player offline multiplayer is wrong.

Until Capcom tells us otherwise, of course.

Capcom says Resident Evil 5 box art “isn’t lying” [Update]

residentevil5a6.jpg

Following on from the rumour that Resident Evil 5 is to potentially feature between 2-16 player offline multiplayer, Capcom has confirmed to videogaming247 that the box art doesn’t lie.

“I can confirm that our box art isn’t lying,” said a senior company representative to VG247 this afternoon. “That’s all, though.”

So, let the speculation begin.

Capcom has recently unveiled the Resident Evil 5 collectors edition for PS3 and 360, with the US getting a much bigger and better one.

Game’s out on March 13.

Update: The box art is a lie.

Rumour: Resident Evil 5 to have offline multiplayer up to 16 players? [Update]

resirumour1b.jpg

If you look at hard at the Resident Evil 5 box art, you’ll notice that in amongst all the specifics it says “system link 2-16 players.”

Now whether this is just on the box as standard or if indeed you can link up your console with eight others from some offline action remains to be seen.

We have, of course, contacted Capcom for comment.

Thanks, D-Pad.

Update: The box art is a lie.

US gets much better Resi 5 limited edition box set than Europe

resi5b.jpg

As per headline. Capcom has announced the Resident Evil 5 limited edition package for the US and it makes Europe’s look a little thin on extras.

On top of everything in the Europe ltd. ed., North America gets a Chris Redfield figure, a Kijuju necklace, a dufflebag and a RSSA patch – all for a measly $90.

Gutted.

Resident Evil 5 is released 13th March.

Read ‘em and weep after the break.

New Resident Evil 5 trailer says “Survival is sometimes worse than death”

resi54b.jpg

A new Resident Evil 5 trailer with real life actors interspersed with gameplay has gone live on the official site.

You see Chris and a girl flirting with one another by a pool before Redfield loses it and has flashbacks which consist of gameplay revealing all kinds of weird shit before uttering: “Survival is sometimes worse than death”

All looks very good indeed.

360 demo goes live on January 26. No confirmation as yet if PS3 will get the taster too.

Update: See it on EG.tv too.

Sony and Capcom saying nothing as to a Resident Evil 5 PS3 demo release

resi53b.jpg

Sony and Capcom have not been able to clarify to videogaming247.com whether the Resident Evil 5 demo, announced for 360 yesterday, will be coming to PSN.

Sony has told VG247 that it isn’t “told about 3rd party releases on the PSN until they go live” and Capcom says it has “nothing further to announce regarding the RE5 demo at the moment.”

Yesterday’s press release (below) made no mention of PlayStation 3 or PSN which led to questions as to whether PS3 owners would get a demo or not.

Resident Evil 5 360 demo coming January 26 [Update]

resi5231.jpg

Major Nelson has announced that Capcom’s Resident Evil 5 demo will be available to download from Xbox Live Marketplace on January 26.

The demo is presumably the one that Japan got early last month. We grabbed it back then and can tell you that it’s really rather good indeed.

Earlier today, Capcom claimed that it feels Resi 5 could be the biggest Resident Evil yet in what could be the company’s strongest first quarter in its history.

We’re just checking to make sure that both Europe and PlayStation 3 are included in the January 26th Resident Evil love-in.

Update: According to PS3F, the demo will be ready to go on PlayStation Network from February 5.

We’ll check with Sony to ask if Europe is included.

resi51b1.jpg

Capcom senior marketing manager Michael Pattison said of the company’s “stellar” Q1 09 line up that it could be the strongest ever.

“It’s definitely going to be a strong quarter for us, maybe our strongest ever,” he said.

“Our hopes for our Q1 line-up are very high indeed. Resident Evil is by all accounts going to be the biggest title in the series to date, reaching the widest user base in its history,” he concluded.

For Capcom’s full Q1 line up, hit the ‘stellar’ link above.
