Rocket League's new custom training mode lets you hone your skills your way

It's the Mario Maker of training courses.

A custom training mode for Rocket League is something that the community has wanted for a while. Psyonix has heard you and a custom training mode you shall have.

Custom Training was announced at the end of last week and will be making its debut in the next update.

You'll be able to choose the map, the nature of the training sequence (striker or goalie), and the difficulty level. Once it's done you can slap a name and a tag on it, and upload it for everyone else to give it a whirl.

At the outset sharing won't be cross-platform but Psyonix say they are working with their console partners to sort this out as soon as they can.

"Editing a specific shot is the most important aspect of this new feature. You can place the car and the ball wherever you want on the field and you can specify the direction and speed of the ball with a full trajectory preview that helps you plan things out.

"Each shot can be tested in real-time, modified, and tested again to make it quick and easy to develop your new training sequence."

You can tweak training sessions after you've uploaded them, with players who have listed your creation as a favourite getting notifications of changes so they can download the latest version.

Looking to the future of Custom Training, Psyonix will be improving the browser experience by adding search and filtering tools and adding user ratings. The sequence options will also expand, with randomised shot lists, a wider variety of options "like starting the car with velocity," and "more 'types' than just Striker and Goalie."

There's no news yet on when the update will drop, so just stay pumped for now.
