With this No Man's Sky mod, you can fly your ship as close to the ground as you like (and also crash)

No Man's Sky as we imagined it would be, including getting stuck in caves and other total disasters.

No Man's Sky attempts to prevent players becoming hopelessly stuck by enforcing a minimum distance from the terrain when flying ships over a planet's surface, which mostly works. I did once get stuck in a cave somehow, but we live and learn.

But who are you to be constrained by safety measures? You are a bold explorer! You wish to zoom through canyons and splash through lakes, and who can blame you. Thankfully, No Man's Sky modders are here to assist you.

Discovered by PCGamer, the No Man's Sky Lowflight mod by Hytek allows you to see what's going on on the surface without popup, and makes it easier to land where you want instead of at some random distance away as determined by the trolling auto landing sequence.

It's probably remarkably easy to get into trouble with this mod so you can probably expect everything to go terrible wrong. Might be a good idea to back up your No Man's Sky save files regularly, or only use the mod with throwaway files, just to be safe.
