Battlefield 1 performance on launch day a focus for DICE

Although Star Wars Battlefront's launch was smooth by most accounts, but the ghost of Battlefield 4's disastrous launch still haunts developer DICE to this day. Thankfully, the studio is not looking to repeat these conditions ever again.

In an interview with GamesBeat, Battlefield 1 lead designer Daniel Berlin said that avoiding a rocky launch is a focus for the studio.

"We know it was a difficult launch. We've been working on this for a long time," Berlin told the site. "We released Battlefront, which did really well.

"We’re pushing an open beta to ensure stability. We've taken a lot of learnings from that experience, and we feel like we succeeded with Battlefront. We’ll take everything we learned there and apply it to Battlefield One as well."

Battlefield 1 is out October 21 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The beta is yet to be dated.
