And that's not the only way it's trying too hard.
Devil's Third blends a couple of different action genres together, so it's kind of on-theme that its aesthetic influences are kind of a mish-mash too.
Nevertheless this trailer is a rollercoaster of highs and lows I feel quite comfortable describing as "all over the place".
Devil's Third is a Wii U exclusive launching August 28 in Europe and later this year in North America. Devil's Third Online, a free-to-start multiplayer-only spin-off, is coming to PC this year, too.
