The Evil Within has a new release date and it’s not a delay. Throw a parade!

Speaking to the QuakeCon audience today, Bethesda boss Pete Hines said The Evil Within has been brought forward to October 14.

That’s a week earlier than the October 21 release date announced earlier this year, and will give the classic survival horror effort a bit of breathing space in the crowded release calendar.

The Evil Within was originally announced for August launch before being delayed. It’s coming to PC, PlayStation 3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Other news from the QuakeCon stream was limited; Quake Live is coming to Steam “very soon” and Wolfenstein: The New Order is on sale to celebrate QuakeCon.

    Shouldn’t they get closer to Halloween for release, instead of getting away from it? This is a HORROR game for gods sake.

    @_LarZen_ not that we’ve heard. Maybe there’ll be news at gamescom.

    So rushing a game into the market is now good news and taking more time to complete it properly before release is a bad thing? I must have missed the memo…

    In 2 years it won’t matter that Evil Within was released a week early if it’s a forgettable mess of a game while nobody would mind The Witcher 3 delayed into 2015 if it turns out to be a game of the year.

    @Rosseu
    They did move the term back, which constitutes as rushing, as opposed to delaying.

    @The_Red October is a clusterfuck for games, wouldn’t end well for them.
