Oh great: Project Spark is coming out in October, too

Just when you thought you couldn't pack any more releases into October, Microsoft's Project Spark drops a release date right smack in the middle of it.

Well, actually, it's not so much the middle as the start - Project Spark arrives on PC and Xbox One on October 7.

On Xbox One, a retail version will go for $40 and include the core building sandbox, the Galaxies: First Contact expansion pack, the Sir Haakon "Hawk" character and the first episode of the campaign mode - Champions Quest: Void Storm. It will also include various other pieces of premium content that doesn't come in the free download version but must be purchased separately.

There's no word yet on the Xbox 360 version, unfortunately. Microsoft told Gamespot it has no news to share on that version at present.

"Our team is focused on creating a great experience on Xbox One and Windows 8.1 first, and will then bring that to Xbox 360. We don't have a timeline to share right now, but it’s certainly on our roadmap," a presentative said.

Currently in beta on PC and Xbox One, Project Spark is a free sandbox experience which allows players to build their own experiences to share with others, something like LittleBigPlanet.
