Freedom Wars: City-State War online PvP mode detailed

Freedom Wars developer Sony Japan Studio has discussed the nature of the PS Vita RPG's online modes, following confirmation that they will miss the game's June 26 launch.

We reported on the Freedom Wars release date announcement yesterday, along with a run-down of modes and content that will drop at launch. Online co-op and multiplayer will come after release, but Famitsu has posted some new details on the PvP-focused City-State War mode.

It'll see the Panapticon prison city split into 47 prefectures - the same as real-world Japan - and each region will fight to ensure the prosperity of their home region. However; as resources are scare, players will have to invade other prefectures to gather supplies by defeating other players. Evolved Panopticons will eventually earn the capacity to invade other territories and claim them as their own.

Famitsu suggests that the resources will be used for making and bolstering AI Abductors, although they couldn't say for certain, but added that players will be able to unlock new gear, clothing, hairstyles and voices for their robotic Accessory companion character.

What do you make of Freedom Wars so far? Are you looking forward to a Western announcement?
