PlayStation 4 launched last Friday here in the UK, and it has gone on to become the fastest-selling console in the nation’s history.
Score-keepers Chart-Track has announced that PS4 rolled right over the PSP’s record of 185,000 sales at launch. The record was set back in 2005.
November 29 was branded a “huge day” for gamers by Sony’s European boss Jim Ryan.
We also spoke with UK boss Fergal Gara just hours before PS4 launched. During the interview he laid out Sony’s stall, stressing that he felt confident that PS4 was going to beat the PSP record. He’ll be quite happy with today’s news then.
The influx of European PS4 players rushing on to PSN even caused some service disruption over the weekend.
We’ll update you once the official PS4 sales figures are released by Sony.
