State of Decay “Breakdown” DLC in certification now, late October release targeted

State of Decay developer Undead Labs has confirmed that the game’s first DLC expansion “Breakdown” is in certification at Microsoft now. The studio is targeting a late October release.

Breakdown was discussed in a blog post on the Undead Labs site.

In the post, Jeff Strain wrote about what will happen once the DLC passes certification, “First, our excellent QA team at Microsoft will spin up multiple teams on two continents for around-the-clock testing. Most of these guys were involved with State of Decay, so they are not only able to find bugs — which is always an essential task — but also help us understand where we are and are not hitting the mark for the survival experience we’re working hard to create. These guys are hard-working, passionate badasses, and we’re glad they’ve got our backs.

“Through next week the QA teams will be playing Breakdown, logging any issues they find, and sending feedback to the development team. We’ll spend our (probably quite long) days reviewing, prioritizing, and squashing bugs, and incorporating the design feedback from the QA teams, members of our publishing team at Microsoft, and of course our own developers here at the Lab.”

He closed, “But, assuming no catastrophes, we plan on getting Breakdown into your hands by the end of October.”

It follows news that State of Decay has sold one million copies since June.

@3, Yeah just like GTA V isn’t a great game… also stopped playing that half way through.

I just get bored of open world games, no matter how great they are I don’t finish the majority…

Played the nuts off this thing when it launched on 360. Great game, despite its flaws. If you fancy something different, this is it. I played it through once, and was waiting for the bugs to be fixed before going at it again. Now I am waiting for this new mode before starting again. 1M gamers can’t all be wrong.
