Ubisoft to show off "new next-gen IP" at gamescom

Although Ubisoft isn't hosting a conference at gamescom 2013, it will be showing off a previously unrevealed next-gen title.

Detailing its gamescom line-up today, the publisher said that it will "share details on a new next-gen IP currently in development" during the event.

Last month, Ubisoft said it would be skipping a conference this year to focus on its show floor presence, so we can probably expect a reveal during Microsoft or Sony's conference.

Natuarally this mysterious tease is designed to surprise us, but the canny money is on Child of Light, which is getting a trade reveal at GDC Europe just days before. It's a new project from Patrick Plourde, creative director on Far Cry 3 and lead designer of two Assassin's Creed games.

We don't know much else about Child of Light except that it is a "small project" at a big studio - Ubisoft Montreal.

  • Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag

  • The Crew

  • Might & Magic: Duel of Champions Online Card Game

Gamescom runs August 21 through 25 in Cologne.
