Warframe: Xbox One release depends on Microsoft's indie policy

Warframe developer Digital Extremes has expressed interest in getting the free shooter on Xbox One. It all hinges on Microsoft's indie publishing policy however.

In a statement sent to OXM, Digital Extremes' vice-president of publishing Meridith Braun said, "We would love to see Warframe on Xbox One, the ball is in Microsoft's court with regards to allowing titles on their system that come from an independent developer and not an established publisher."

Last week, a Lionhead Studios employee said that Microsoft is passionate about indies and is gearing up to announce its strategy on the matter soon. Microsoft itself has remained silent regarding the issue.

Recently, Pat interviewed Oddworld co-creator Lorne Lanning, who has been trying to get Stanger's Wrath HD on Xbox Live for some time now. He told us that Microsoft's Xbox One team should be fired over its indie stance, suggesting the company no longer cares about small independent developers.

Also, I recently interviewed Digital Extremes about its work in getting Warframe PS4-ready. They said that Sony's indie stance is democratic and accommodating to its needs. Check out the article here.
