Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition performing strongly at retail

The physical, retail version of Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition was the best-selling Xbox 360 game in its launch window, according to Mojang founder Markus "Notch" Persson.

Noting that the disc version of Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition had been out for a few days on Twitter, Persson went on to reveal it's selling just about as terrifically as everybody expected.

"And they're telling me it's currently the fastest selling console game in the US. Neato!" he said.

Minecraft hit US retail earlier this month. It seems almost impossible that not everybody already owned a copy of Minecraft; the Xbox 360 version has sold over 6 million units and players have logged a cumulative total over 1 billion hours, the Pocket Edition has shifted 10 million and so has the Mac and PC version.

It's coming to Xbox One now, too. Gosh.

Thanks, Units.
