Beyond Good & Evil image of Peyj during E3 “wasn’t meant to be a tease,” says Guillemot

Ubisoft has confirmed its Beyond Good & Evil image posted to Facebook during E3 of Peyj, the pig-like mechanic, was indeed just an image of a “classic character” among other images on the page.

Speaking with VentureBeat, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said the image “wasn’t meant to be a tease” for Beyond Good & Evil 2.

“It was just part of our promotion in the run-up to E3 – homaging some of the characters from our past,” he said. “I think that was maybe misinterpreted. I think the first game was exceptional, and people remember the experience they had, so they would like to see it again.

“We had a period where we had a demo that went out before it was quite ready, so everybody saw something that appealed to them. That’s why I think they keep expecting something. But I can’t say much more than that.”

Thanks, OXM.

    Yeah Ubi, fuck off with your bullshit. As if you didn’t know people would be expecting something on the game. Their show was a huge disappointment anyway, with only The Division as big surprise.

    “I think the first game was exceptional”, yet, your company decided to dump it on retail and pushed Sands of Time through marketing channels, instead.
    @3 Yes, although the Division wasn’t Rainbow 6 :’(

    As far as reveals for BG&E2 go…I’m still waiting for the next part of the CGI series that shows Jade and Peyj stuck with a broken down car in a vast desert, and Jade’s under a parasol.

    People want the game, and launching with a next gen console would have been a great way to get the IP out there again. People want it, hurry up and make it Ubi.

    Sometimes I wonder if publishers know what they’re doing wahtsoever; if they understand the consequences of their actions, or if they’ve leant that it doesn’t matter what they do.

    Indeed man. Two games i was expecting. Rainbow Six Patriots because of the recent news from Jade Raymond that the multiplayer maps were finished and all was going well, and BG&E2 because of that tease. Assholes at Ubi. And now Rainbow Six has gone next-gen, but the way they said it….it doesn’t even seem to be on the planning yet. So i wonder if the whole Patriots concept is still alive or already long gone.

    Like they didn’t foresee how the fans (who are constantly asking for a sequel) would react? This was 100% an intentional tease, to create hype for Ubisoft at E3.
