DayZ Standalone: first gameplay from E3 2013

Bohemia Interactive’s Matt Lightfoot gives VG247 a world’s first look at the standalone version of Day Z, direct from E3 2013.

You’ll get a look at the new loot and gear systems; menu interface; character models; animations; environments and much more. Plus, learn the pro “crouch” zombie avoidance manoeuvre.

DayZ has not yet been dated; Bohemia Interactive chose to completely rebuild the game with an MMO-like client and sever architecture rather than knock out the quick and dirty port fans were clamouring for. From the looks of it, this was a good decision.

    I’m finding it extremely hard to play ArmA 2 since ArmA 3. It just looks so bad.

    @3 Yeah me 2, I can’t even go back to DayZ after playing ArmA 3 Alpha.

    Can’t be worse than this war Z thing… is that even active anymore?

    @6 WarZ tries to rip DayZ off and has failed at it in every possible way. It’s shame how WarZ is putting DayZ into bad light because of brand confusion, but maybe that is why developers of WarZ branded it as such?

    @3&4 exactly my thoughts.

    Will dive into State Of Decay once its released here, to get my Zombie fix.

    The inventory / crafting interface still looks clunky as all hell. Game looks OK though.
