Warhammer Dawn of War: “strong possibility” of new game, says Relic

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War may make a come back at some point, according to developer Relic Entertainment. The team is currently polishing off Company of Heroes 2, then who knows what might come next?

Speaking with Eurogamer, Relic’s Quinn Duffy suggested that both Warhammer and the studio wil ride again, stating that there is, “a strong possibility we’ll all be working together again on Dawn of War.”

It’s unclear how the licensing rights stack up, given Relic’s sale to Sega after the first THQ auction, but this seems to suggest that both parties are keen on keeping the Dawn of War series alive.

PC Gamer adds that before THQ’s collapse, president Danny Bilson confirmed that Dawn of War 3 was in the workds, and that it would be “a much larger strategic component”, as well as “sort of MMO-like.”

What do you think? Should this happen? If so, what form would you like it to take? Let us know below.

Who got Dark Millennium, and what level of completion was that project actually at? Was it any more than a concept, really? There was a “trailer” that was unbelievably early-looking, and really said nothing.
Has Nordic Games put the bid for the bulk of what had been done on that, too? (could you investiagate?)

THQ were hinting that Space Marine sequel was being folded into DMO at one time. Did that get off the ground?
wait a…”sort of mmo like”! Could they have been intending to build a giga 40k game, using aspects of all THREE projects!!

    Jesus christ.

This is so painfully obvious, and has been for months. Most of us immediately jumped around looking for information during the THQ dissolution – GW filed an objection to the sale, which was withdrawn (according to, whom is “legit” so I’m told).

There are also official court documents listing Atlas as a GW trademark. Atlas is a project being worked on by Relic.

Ergo, Atlas is DOW3, and has been in development since THQ days.

Quinn is playing games with Wesley over on Eurogamer (who’s article writing I still find difficult to read, incredibly tabloid and inaccurate). If you wanted the details you could of looked for them yourselves over the past few months.

Source: I hang out on RelicNews forums, where we essentially folks dug up everything they could find on this. Relic has the headcount for two projects, and has only announced one.

Only bad news is most of the DOW2 staff left Relic during the THQ cullings.

If Relic make a revamp of the original DoW with base building, armour sets etc then most certainly yes. If they are looking to make a DoW2 revamp, then no.

DoW original was brilliant and that was the reason why it had so many expansions and a strong community online.

@1, Sega got W40K & DMO so who knows what we can expect.

I hope this is true, and if so that it includes Inquisitor Adrastia. She was what brought me over from interested to buying Retribution, and I greatly enjoyed the game and her role.
