Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 ships over 1 million units ahead of tomorrow’s launch
Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 developer City Interactive has shipped over 1 million units of its CryEngine 3 stealth-festival. It’s out tomorrow, and like a truly stealthy thing, there isn’t a review in sight.
Odd isn’t it? VG247′s review copies haven’t arrived yet, or maybe they have? Maybe they’re here with us now in the room, just blending in with the scenery, or lurking behind us with cheese wire waiting for the opportune moment to strike us dead?
So anyway, in a press release issued today, City Interactive hits PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 tomorrow, and is getting free multiplayer DLC after launch. The pack will deliver two extra maps called Tower Defense and Temple Crossing, as well as an additional game mode.
We’ll have more on that as it happens, as well as reviews once they emerge from the thicket.

Yeah bit worrying there’s no reviews, doesn’t look terrible from YouTube videos I’ve seen of it, but after finding Crysis 3 disappointing I’m a bit put off buying shooters at the moment, besides it just seems the sniping is the only reason to buy the game.

It’s inferior to Sniper Elite V2 in every single way possible.

I guess Polish people love to support their developers
@2 Maybe not in graphics and animations … maybe.

@2 have you played it? EDIT: I mean that sincerely, like, did you get an early pre-order copy or something?
Actually when I saw Sniper Ghost Warrior 2 at gamescom 2011 it looked just fine, Lovely visuals etc. Not enough to give a proper opinion on though so personally the jury’s out.
I like stealth games so I want this to be good.
Please be good.

Well there are user reviews on metacritic but not a single critic review. How odd. And one of the user reviews points to ‘angry buyers’ on the steam forums, but when I look on the forums most people commenting on it seem to be enjoying it. Who knows. I smell bullshit somewhere anyway. I’m willing to give it a chance.

@4: Yeah, I played the first level and it’s the definition of linear. You have to follow a guy from start to finish and listen to every single command he spouts at you. “Wait.” “Shoot.” “Don’t shoot.” “Wait on me.” “3, 2, 1, shoot.”
It became so ridiculous that I stopped thinking for myself and even hesitated to kill anyone without his say-so.
It is stealthy, yes. A good example: We sneaked through a camp full with enemy forces and didn’t kill anyone. Instead, we walked through it and looked for a good sniping position, only at the position did we start to kill folks.
The worst thing about the game is the checkpoint system, you can lose up to 10 minutes of gameplay.
The bulletcam is less spectacular, you don’t seem to be able to use mines or anything that would add some sort of variety, like shooting at grenades that are hanging on the belt of some soldier.

Yeah just read them on metacritic, put me off even more, kinda believe the negative ones over the positive, especially after the first game not receiving great reviews.
We’ll soon see from the critic reviews anyway, hopefully it’ll be decent.

@6 All I’d say to that, and I’ve never played this, just tons of other games, its pretty normal for the first level or 2 to be linear before giving you the reigns for the rest of the game. Did you see more of it?

@6 like knives to the heart :’(
Well, I’ll still play it as a fan of stealth. I’m the optimistic type (hopefully so) so maybe I can squeeze some decent fun out of it.
Cheers for the heads up man.

No reviews means its really bad. I played this and it really sucks. So many bugs in it, I don’t know how it got past testing.

I can see, that everything with “Sniper” in it’s title manages to sell a million …

@8: Nope, I did something wrong in the first mission, reloaded the checkpoint and lost about 9 min. of gameplay, this is where I stopped.
@9: I too am a fan of stealth, but this game didn’t get my dick hard. Maybe the game opens up after the first level, I dunno, please remain optimistic.

@13 I think optimism is all the old guard have left when it comes to a lot of games these days. But I have to admit from what you’ve said, its not looking positive. Still, best wait and see. If this is shit, Bioshock is a short time away.

@14: It’s not too bad, from what I’ve seen just now on Youtube, the second mission really does open up, you don’t really have to follow a guy anymore, but it remains pretty linear.
@15: Are there any information on Patriots? I suspect Ubisoft might mess it up again. They messed up Ghost Recon Future Soldier.

Its Sad to see but i saw this game got cracked few days ago. how the hell these games get cracked even before it gets released. whats the point using a DRM even if it cant hold pirates atleast few days.
This is why I’m ok with EA using always online DRM for simcity.it actually works against pirates. yes people whine about it. but its sad to see when a peoples hard working product get robbed even before it gets released.

@10 That was the biggest surprise to me. Every video I’ve seen over the last couple of months showed 2 guys stalking through the jungle. I just automatically assumed it was going to have co-op available like Sniper Elite. Missed oppurtunity if you ask me.

@17 I use cracks all the time. I buy my games, I just crack them if I have no intention of using online features and want to get rid of nags or launchers that ruin my Big Screen Mode experience. So don’t automatically assume that cracked always means stolen.
