Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn beta registration is now open, developer Square-Enix has confirmed. Both the PS3 and PC editions will received closed beta tests. Find out how you can apply after the break.

The game’s EU beta registration portal is now live, along with a list of pre-requisites and additional information.

The official beta guidelines state, “Players who met the Legacy campaign requirements can participate in the beta test starting from phase 1 and are not required to apply. However, we ask players who wish to participate in the PlayStation 3 beta test to apply for it.

“If you applied to be a PlayStation 3 beta tester for FFXIV Version 1.0 and were selected to test the Windows version instead, you need not apply again to test the PS3 version—your original application will be reconsidered when we start selecting PS3 testers.

“However, if you wish to be considered as a Windows PC tester, we ask that you apply specifically for that.”

The developer also released a prologue trailer for the game:

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is shaping up rather nicely. I saw it in action at gamescom 2012 and interviewed Square-Enix on how it’s all progressing. Check out my chat with them here.

Thanks CVG.

yeah, that’s all I’m getting too. Despite all the people saying ‘SQenix are dead to me’ it seems their games still pull in the numbers. (Unless they’re just being shite and the site’s down)…..

So… if I was one of those who bought FFXIII and put in for vanilla PS3 FFXIV, I don’t have to reapply, right?

Why this group of people isn’t doing the story and art direction for the single player Final Fantasies is beyond me.

@10 Server will be located in Japan for the first few phases, so it’s a no.
Anyway US will have an advantage over EU, latency-wise.
