Scribblenauts Unlimited dev explains lack of Nintendo cameos in 3DS version

Scribblenauts Unlimited on Wii U will feature a host of Mario and Zelda cameos and items, but unfortunately for Nintendo 3DS owners, the cameos haven't made it over to the handheld version. Developer 5th Cell has revealed that it was a matter of timing.

Nintendo Life reports - by way of IGN - that creative director Jeremiah Slaczka explained, “The 3DS version was already finished and moving into manufacturing (cartridges take longer to produce) by the time the deal was signed with WB & Nintendo.”

Will more Nintendo characters enter the fold as post-launch DLC? Slaczka added, "it's just Mario and Zelda for now. However, "there's plenty of characters and other goodies to discover within those universes."

The Nintendo character cameos are comprised of Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Yoshi, Epona, Link, Zelda and Gongoron.

Scribblenauts Unlimited launches November 18th on Nintendo 3DS and PC, then afterwards on Wii U.
