I really enjoyed Borderlands 2 and it’s humor too, but…at times it really sounds like they are trying WAY too hard to sound “cool”.

Looks like that preorder 1 day before release (tee hee!) is about to pay off.

Don’t all copies have the premier club included?

I didn’t preorder but still got the code in the box.

Really enjoying my first play-through, and looking forward to doing it all again with a different character. They have quite distinct play styles.

@4 – If it was pre-ordered to one of the first in stock. Re-stocked versions wont have the premier club I don’t think.

Funnily enough, that was one of the things I liked about it. Ultimately it’s a boring kill-a-thon (and Yahtzee is mostly right about that), but you also have this layer of… well, it’s nerdliness. You have the comic book aesthetic, and you have them trying to sound cool. It’s very schoolyard nerd. And this latest video exemplifies that.

To be honest, snickering at them trying to sound cool and being such massive (and slightly adorable) nerds was one of the things that made Borderlands II palatable to me. I’m just glad they’re getting over their misogyny a bit. I don’t stomach misogyny well, and it’s annoying because I find Gearbox likeable other than that.

Overall, I enjoy them being ridiculous. But I often find myself wishing that that (almost Japanese) ridiculousness wasn’t being wasted on mediocre shooters.

Also… weird thought of the day…

Had anyone ever thought that the European delay is good for us? I used to be irritated by it too, but lately I’m finding it helpful in using the system against itself. I’ll explain. So, pre-purchases are to tie you into a game that you might not like before you get any feedback on it, right?

Well, if the game is being released in another region first, then within two days (of the three day delay) you’ll get a lot of videos, and reviews from lesser known sites who can be more honest about games rather than A+ing everything. You’ll get a better feel as to whether you’ll enjoy a game in this period, because it isn’t all PR bull. You’re actually finding out what other people think. Social networking sites like tumblr are great for this.

What this means is that you can get a feel for a game before you buy it. This is what the pre-purchase idea is supposed to prevent. Ultimately, though, because of the delay we’re permitted to do that. I pre-purchased one day before the release, too. So I get the Mechromancer for free after having gotten impressions of the game from videos and friends. That’s very handy.

Americans get the game before Europeans, yeah, but I think this is actually working out to our benefit. And if you’re not doing this, yet, then you should. If you don’t have American friends and trusted US review sources, get some. It pays off.

A small wonder in the age of digital distribution.

Get it, enable it, restart Steam, unlock, play.

Sorry, can’t take something serious if it uses the word “cloud” xD

To each their own. If you have a paid VPN, then it’s obviously not worth your time.

If you don’t, it’s the fastest and cheapest (well, free’est) way to get one.

Welp, I think that the three day delay is actually a good thing. So I don’t need such a thing.

What I don’t understand is the buzz surrounding Spotflux. You can get a better service for cheaper if you don’t get it, as what it does isn’t anything new, and there are VPN services available for cheaper. Some which have been available for a long time.

All Spotflux has done is popularised it a bit within its own audience.

Cheaper than Free? Thats pretty gosh damned cheap!

On topic this is more of everything I found offensive about Borderlands 2 and its “humour”. Yeah Valley girls on Pandora great can’t wait to hear what awful canned phrases she will repeat endlessly.
