"The idea of a 99c gamer on iOS is more myth than fact," says Telltale SVP

Telltale SVP Steve Allison has told PocketGamer he thinks the price for The Walking Dead on iOS is "the right price," and proof that gamers only wish to pay 99 cent for an app is "more myth than fact."

"The Walking Dead was shaping up to be a great touch screen experience and as our first universal iOS title that would also be available on console, $4.99 an episode is consistent with our past successful experiences on the App Store and with the pricing on other platforms," he told the site.

Allison said quality and depth of a product is what drives the "right price for consumers," and The Walking Dead's price on the App store had not "impeded" customers from purchasing it.

"We've had a great initial launch as a top 10 title with no signs of slowing down and great feedback on the game from people who have bought the game for their iOS devices," he said.

The Walking Dead released on iOS July 26 and the first episode, A New Day, will run you $4.99 on the App Store for iPad 2, the third-gen, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, and iPod fourth -gen and above.

Users can also purchase the Multi-Pack for $14.99 which includes episodes 2-5.
