Amazing – Rockstar releases two GTA V screenshots

The title says it all really. Hit up the break for a look.

The shots were released via a community Q&A on Rockstar’s website, and the firm said it is “very busy working on the game,” and that everything is “going well, but the game is a huge project,” so more information and new assets will be made available “soon.”

“We have often had long gaps between asset releases on previous games and will continue to do so in the future,” said the post. “Please understand, we don’t do this because we ‘don’t care about our fans,’ we do it because we want to make sure we only release 100% correct information, and because we want to keep plenty back for the actual game release so there are still lots of surprises when you play it.

“We just have not been in a position to show more of the game than the trailer and will not be for a while yet.”

During the Q&A the firm also said to “stay tuned” regarding its other franchises such as Bully, LA Noire, and “the future of the Red Dead series,” which could mean anything from DLC coming to RDR or your standard “watch this space for the next five years.” You never know.

Still no date on GTA V, obviously.

I honestly don’t know how anyone could get a “next gen” vibe from either the trailers or those screens.

Oh! So they finally realized that their graphic engineers suck so they hired the iceEnhancer guy? :) )

The screens look great, but if anyone wants to see a real next-gen game just look at the video and screens for Watch dogs from Ubisoft. That game really shows what a GTA game could look like (IF MS and Sony don’t go Nintendo and release a modest update from the 360/PS3)

@11, modest? Nintendo couldn’t even make the WiiU as powerful as hardware from 2005! (basically 7 years ago)

And is it me or am I seeing LA Noire bleeding into the game (even though R* didn’t make the game). I hope this is good and maybe some more freakin details! haha

Yes, of course it’s an updated GTA 4 engine. It’s the rage engine. Just like Red Dead Redemption and Max Payne 3 are games with an “updated” GTA 4 engine.

Bully <3

I wonder if Rockstar actually know how to do anything that isn't uber-serious these days.

@20 I started to like R* games when they became more serious. I was never a fan of the old GTA games. GTA IV is one of my favorite game this gen. Never played Bully though. I got it in a Steam sales like 2 years ago. I think I’ll try it soon. So much games, so little time.

But i think some people are perhaps expecting a bit too much of the current consoles..and i just think you can’t anymore. But the difference between IV and V is quite significant. Remember how IV has a rather waterpaint look? It would only dissappear when it became afternoon, evening and nighttime. This is all gone in V. Look at the difference my friends :

@23,
That’s because of the post processing (that blur and ugly color pallete), not the engine itself. Judging by the Max Payne 3 improvements over GTA 4, the next instalment should look rather well, at least on PC.

I’d assume even though this looks to be using overall the same engine as the previous title it will run very well on PC, the improvements they have made to their technical stuff for Max payne 3 and just even on other games past GTA IV show they have done a lot to make things run smoother and look better, if not some sort of massive leap forward still it’s there if you wanna look for it.

The framerate for example in GTA IV is pretty bad, not all of the time, but most of the time it is. It was already alot better in RDR. But that game was much more empty than GTA IV.

Nah, its not next-gen probably purported from a PC, via N4G: http://pinoytutorial.com/techtorial/new-gta-v-screenshots-prove-ps4-and-xbox-720-arent-yet-needed/

At this point, it’s more believable to see this game released on Q1 2013 (than October).

it all comes down to the frame rate.

@30

Wow…a reply so late after the article, lol.

But yeah, it definitely does. GTA IV was pretty terrible at times where the framerate is concerned. But it also was Rockstar’s first game for the Xbox 360 and PS3 and it was also a brand new engine, it was more or less a real experiment. Then came RDR and the framerate was damn good…and i think framerate will be something important for Rockstar, it should be.

@30
You are right. GTA IV was more as an experiment for RAGE 2 engine (the game engine used for GTA IV, LA Noire, Max Payne 3, RDR) and their new physics mechanic. Expect GTA V’s mechanic and stuff t be more like RDR because GTA IV is like an experiment and RDR is more like R* is used to the new engine and mechanics now. There are practically no frame rate issues in RDR and even when the frame rate drops it is hardly detachable. The graphic looks AWESOME for GTA V and it’s only console graphics.

Just CAN’T WAIT for GTA V!!!!!!!!!!!
