Star Wars 1313 powered by Unreal Engine 3

Thursday, 7th June 2012 07:46 GMT By Johnny Cullen

Epic’s confirmed to CVG that Star Wars 1313 is being powered through Unreal Engine 3, not the next-gen Unreal Engine 4.

A behind closed doors demo of the the game showed the Unreal Editor, the tool used by devs for Unreal-powered games, which led to the assumption it’d be running Unreal Engine 4.

An Epic rep has since confirmed it was running on Unreal 3, not 4.

It comes as Epic VP Mark Rein told the site that early next-gen games were expected to run on Unreal 3 rather than Unreal 4.

Star Wars 1313 doesn’t have a launch date or platforms as yet. Watch stunning footage of it here.

But are they using some dx11 effects then ?

More then that; they are working closely with Nvidia and ILM to implement their effects rendering usually used in film to the real time game engine.

The Samaritan Demo was also running on UE3. So there is defenitely more life in it, as long as the hardware keeps up.

The game looks amazing makes uncharted’s effects look old.

OMG, people keep bringing up the Samaritan demo. Congrats, that and Square Enix’s new demos aren’t all that impressive because they run the render and camera angles without any sort of AI or any other elements that make it a game (aka, taking user feedback from the controller and rendering the models in a certain way).

For example, GTA 4 runs fine if you play the game normally. The minute you start getting a multi-car pile up (I’m talking 10+ cars)… the game really chugs along. Trust me, Samaritan demo/SE demo will bring the computer down to it’s knees if you added AI behaviors + user controlled variables (the car pile up).

As for Star Wars 1313, this game looks dope and I hope it comes to PC. XD

@5, it was running on PC at E3, so presumably they plan to release it on there.

LOL, uncharted would still look better than this game even after it comes out. How about we see some day time levels and effects. This game does not beat uncharted or come close.
