Super Meat Boy: The Game announced for touch devices

Team Meat’s confirmed Super Meat Boy: The Game for iOS, as well as assuring the touch platformer won’t be restricted to Apple devices.

The notoriously difficult indie title has been “totally” remade “from the ground up” for touch-screens to prevent a port project turning out a “pile of garbage”.

The developer confirmed the game is a “feature length touch controlled platformer specifically designed for touch devices,” and that it isn’t “the Super Meat Boy you’re used to.”

“There are aspects of Super Meat Boy in there, obviously, but this is a brand new game with new art, new sound, everything.”

Work was first confirmed on the title in February.

Team Meat said in January that Super Meat Boy has sold more than 1 million units on PC and Xbox 360 so far.

    May be the y will release it on PSN after 10 years like Limbo which I doubt that it sold 1000 copies on PSN.

    @1 Its not in Nintendo consoles because of file restrictions. And its not on PSN because Sony refused them before and are bitter about it.

    Good for team meat if they can cut themselves from the sales on Nintendo and sony consoles.

    I would love to play meatboy on Vita or 3DS, i see no point on playing it on a giant TV screen…

    So i will have to choose mobile phones to enjoy this game on the go…those machines with fantastic limitation gameplay wise…
    At a price that will make Xbox gamers shy, because they have already make this game profitable…

    @8 Good to know. Still, I’d kill for a Vita version because it can feature both control methods (Touch and normal/PC version).

    @9 I still dont understand what stops devs to release a game for Vita, or at list fails to attract them on this machine. The dev kits are very cheap. The console seems to be the simpliest console to code sony ever released. It has Touch front and back, gyro AND two sticks….
    On top of that games can be released in store and on PSN…

    I really dont get it why we dont see more and more games for it. Specialy when we can easily see that right price, games sell on vita ( escape plan plants vs zombie, or stardust )

    Strange strange strange…is it because of sony ???

    @11, i didnt say there were no games at all, it would be very stupid to say that as i am ejoying the hell out of this console ( the line up is one of the best ever released ), but the Vita lacks announcments. I mean games from 3rd party studios, in the east and in the west. It looks like no studio is interested in the console, even though the press and gamers a unanymous about the quality of it.
    They are wasting money, time and energy to release Iphone games, that will appeal to kleenex gamers, then will complain that casual gaming is leading sells… Totally not logical …

    I actually think Sony made a mistake by releasing every single Vita game during launch.
    They should have talked with other publishers to make a release plan. Just releas Uncharted 2 and 3-4 others at launch. Then start releasing other titles biweekly. Having Uncharted, MotorStorm, WipeOut, Escape Plan, Ninja Gaiden, Rayman, Blobs and more on the same day makes for a rich BUT crowded launch while leaving the months after that pretty much empty.

    They kinda released everything at the start but forgot about other months.
    sure, Sony will no doubt introduce new games at E3/Gamescom/TGS for Christmas in 2012 and 2013, but i want something good now.

    April: Disgaea 3
    May: Mortal Kombat, Resistance, Silent hill
    June: Gravity rush, lego batman 2, Little big planet
    And later on: Tekken x SF, Killzone, ZoE collection, MGS hd collection, Malicious, Little king story, DJ max, Personna 4…

    It is far from empty, even though it could have been stellar, i see in this list 6 games i will own ( on top of the lineup title i havent guy yet )

    Maybe what is missing, is big franchise that can be mediatic, like resident evil, or Monster hunter, even gamers dont buy, it feels solid…
