Dead Rising 2: Off the Record features Frank this fall

Tuesday, 12th April 2011 16:04 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Frank West is back in a re-imagining of Dead Rising 2 from Blue Castle Games – we have screens and a movie below to prove it.

In this full release, the developer has put our hero from Dead Rising 1 into a retelling of the events which occurred in Fortune City. Instead of Chuck Greene hogging all the glory this time around, it’s all about Frank “Goddamn” West, baby.

Again, this is a full game and not DLC, and the developers told us at Capcom’s Captivate last week it will be “bigger” in size than Dead Rising 2. More about that later in the week though.

Enjoy the screens and trailer below.

Dead Rising 2: Off the Record is slated for a fall release on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.

Could this be the laziest game ever?

    It certainly sounds like it.

Capcom’s money making schemes at work once again. Shame that Dead Rising 2 is being milked this much, Case Zero and West were acceptable, but this? This is a complete rip-off.

Frank West’s got more of a Dan Aykroyd vibe going and it seems like it’ll be slightly cheaper at $50 in the US?

    WTF do they mean “re-imagining”.

Well said. I’m a Dead Rising fanboy but this game could really be the laziest game ever made. It’s kinda of big FU to fans of either game…

It’s Dead Rising 2, but with a different scenario. Think of it like Resident Evil 1, where you’d play Jill instead of Chris through the same, but different scenario. This is what this seems to be.

I’m quite interested in it. I felt DR2 was good but needed a lot of work, technical and otherwise and this seems to be that. As for rip off… well, a fair few games have the same game but updated, like the sports games and CoD games, at least they’re being honest with this, and as always, if you don’t like it don’t buy it. It’s not the first time we’ve had DX editions of games. Hell, everyone seems to feel it’s ok for pubs to bundle in DLC and sell it again at near full price, least they’re making this different.

Are people really so cynical that they think this is going to just be DR2 just with Frank as the main character and everything else the same? Really? Grief.

He looks like Ray Stantz in a couple of those pictures. Who you gonna call… Frank West?
