"We’ll probably do Minecraft 2," says Mojang

Mojang has admitted it would probably end up making Minecraft 2.

But speaking to PC Gamer, if a Minecraft sequel were to be made, it would come after the recently-announced Scrolls.

"We’ll probably do Minecraft 2, but [Scrolls] is a game I really want to make," said programmer, Jakob Porser.

As for Scrolls, Mojang isn't expecting the same viral success it had with Minecraft for the new title.

"I’m sure we will not have anything as close as viral to the success of Minecraft obviously, it’s whole other type of game," said Porser.

"I’m sure there’s going to be a lot of people dissapointed in this game because it’s not a Minecraft kind of game."

Mojang were arguably the biggest winner of GDC awards night overnight, picking up awards at the IGFAs and GDCAs for Minecraft. More on that here.
