Topware: Next Two Worlds game “coming out in 2012″

Saturday, 19th February 2011 08:24 GMT By Patrick Garratt

Topware has apparently outed its next Two Worlds title, amid a scuffle over Two Worlds II review scores.

Topware has been accused of asking for increased in scores for fantasy RPG Two Worlds II, but issued a statement to Beefjack on the matter in which it made mention of another game in the series.

“We feel as a company we have made great strides with our game and look forward to our next installment,” said the company.

Further, Destructoid picked up the Beefjack piece, to which TopWare’s James Seaman made a comment: which included a Two World III release date.

“We try to do a better job every time, and have brought in a brand new 3D modelling, animation and CG team for the next Two Worlds game coming out in 2012,” he said.

Two Worlds II released in Europe last November, but didn’t arrive in the US until February on Steam.

The game has a PS3 MC of 74 percent; a 360 MC of 69 percent; and a PC MC of 76 percent.

Thanks, Ripten.

Game was not released in the US on the 25th… it was delayed until Feb.. in fact according to gamestop the game in its physical form was cancelled here. The game finally came out on Steam on Feb 3rd.

For PC that is. PS: This whole no editing of comments thing is retarded.

It annoyed me a little how the “European” release date was November, yet the UK was grouped under the “US” for their release date for whatever reason.

However, this is good news, even if 2012 does seem a little bit premature. TW2 was a vast improvement on the original, but a lot of the game’s harsh criticisms were justified. Unlike most, I had absolutely no problem with animation, and I could even see the funny side of the god-awful voice acting.

One thing which was completely unnaceptable however was the game’s complete lack of original design. They basically ‘borrowed’ a ton of fantasy/history cliches and meshed them together. I mean, why spend time designing creatures or interesting architecture when you can just stick dinosaurs in a bland, oriental region? Lazy work guys.

If they’d just put a little more effort into concept/design/artwork then for me, TW2 would have been right up there with the best RPGs. Maybe for the next installement they should take a page out of Bethesda’s book and give themselves 4 years to produce something that’s really amazing.

They should just re-release Two Worlds 2 with new and properly MCed animations, new voice cast and an upgraded inventory UI. Seriously, TW2 has a lot of potential but HORRIBLE animations, bad voice acting and crappy menu system almost ruin it.
