Square’s just announced it’s renamed Final Fantasy Agito XIII to Final Fantasy Type 0.

Once more, it’ll release this summer on PSP in Japan, before the release of the also just-confirmed Final Fantasy XIII-2.

No western date was announced.

It’ll also ship on two UMDs.

It confirms what the meaning was behind the recent trademark of Type 0 a couple of weeks ago. It was discovered on Sunday that Square had also registered Type 1, 2 and 3 trademarks.

Under its former monkier, Final Fantasy Agito XIII was announced at E3 2006 under the Fabula Nova Crystallis brand alongside FFXIII and Versus XIII for Japanese mobile titles.

It was announced in July 2008 at its DKS3137 event that development had now shifted towards PSP.

The first trailer will arrive on January 27 on the game’s website here.

I wonder if there’ll be a digital release, with just one big-ass file.

Is it just me, or do the positions of these FF stories keep changing place?
