Square: No plans to release Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep on PSN

Square Enix has confirmed Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep will only be released in UMD format.
Sorry PSP Go users.
While it’s been rumored for quite some time to be the case (via IGN) Square has confirmed it to be true, finally, without explaination, only saying this:
“Square Enix, Inc. currently has no plans to release Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep through the PlayStation Store.”
Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep will hit retail on September 7 in the US and September 10 in the UK.
Thanks: Joystiq, BecauseIToldYouSo.

Sony really screwed the pooch with their PSPGo especially if the Developers are not on the same page.

That’s a… really strange decision.
Why the hell would you willingly choose to avoid more sales?!

Whilst I’m used to games companies making weird decisions, I can’t see a single advantage for S-E in forgoing a digital release.
Perhaps it’s a licensing issue? I’m at a loss otherwise.

both the PSP Go & 3000 cost too much, the 3000 is the same as the 2000 with a different screen(from my view-crappier) & includes a free mic, is that all?

I dont get it, this decision literally makes no sense whatsoever. Seriously, i cant imagine a single advantage to this. Screw the PSPGo sales being low, people also download games for their ‘standard’ PSP’s.

It easily could be because Sony charges more to use the PSN system than just going with the UMD.

Sony fucked up plain and simple. Major ass fucking for anyone who bought a PSPgo wanting to buy this game. Unless Sqaure/Enix is simply holding out for more money from Sony…
